Fisting: an introduction

The beginning: sharing arousal

Though fisting may happen between humans of any gender, I will focus my description on the most common arrangement: the mating of a man and a woman. The fisting ritual begins with many of the typical signs of human arousal. The male’s penis becomes engorged with an onslaught of blood and a swelling of muscle tissue. Simultaneously, the female flushes to a lovely shade of pink as her pupils dilate and her vagina swells.

The male begins to pace and stalk as the female rubs her labia, panting lightly and fixing her eyes on his penis. This is his signal to take over, rubbing her opening with his palm as though rapidly trying to smooth a pile of dirt.

She begins to squeak and yelp– the cries of arousal for a human female. This encourages the male, and tells him to go further.

Expanding the Vagina

At this point in the ritual, the male begins the process of expanding the female’s very small opening. He begins with the digits of his dominant hand, repeatedly inserting two fingers, then three, then four.

It is at this moment that, for a reproductive ritual, the male would typically insert his swollen member into the vagina of the female. But what is so surprising about fisting is that using the penis is totally unnecessary to the animalistic process. Instead, he simply extends all of his fingers, curling in the side of his hand to make his hand slightly rounder in diameter, and inserts his full hand up to the wrist inside of her.

The female, at this point, shows a combination of pain and enjoyment. She yelps and squeals, grimmacing and contorting her face. But simultaneously, her vagina secretes a moist mucous which allows the male to slip his arm further and further inside of her.

The Purpose of This Perplexing Act

The ritual of fisting is puzzling, to say the least. As yet, fisting has no known biological purpose. It is a sexual act which clearly involves some amount of pain, and has absolutely no reproductive value. In fact, this cartoon speculates that the act could potentially damage the human vagina, making eventual reproduction more difficult.

My theory, after dilligent research, is that this act serves to prepare the female for childbirth in some way — like a boxer taking punches to condition himself before a fight. The male accomodates this need, offering his forearm to the service of stretching the vagina, while sacrificing the pleasure of his penis.

The female is, however, a generous partner– after the service of the male, she will often permit him to ejaculate streams of semen across her body.
